WHATYOUWILL
THINGS TO KNOW IF YOU GO
GENERAL INFO THAT MAY BE HELPFUL:
DIRECTIONS
1. Take I-71 to Exit 131 (OH-37 E /US-36 E exit)
2. Head west toward Delaware. You will pass by Waffle House, Hotels, and be on the lookout for Jason Hatfield RV Auto and RV on your right. This is just before the next turn: RIGHT ON 3Bs and K road (also known as 35)
3. You will go straight until you hit a T-junction. Make a LEFT (Kilbourne Rd.)
4. Make your first RIGHT. This is Beard Rd. Look for the 4820 carved in stone.
CAMPING
Camping is available, including a grill and restroom facilities. There is plenty of shade and higher ground in case it's damp.
PARKING
Please park directly to the sides of the long driveway. If it's been raining a lot recently please look out for damp areas to steer clear of and avoid getting stuck in.
HOTELS
If you're coming for both days and don't wish to camp there are a couple of hotels out on the US-36/Delaware interchange: Hampton Inn and America's Best Suites. There are also a number of restaurants on the same drag: Waffle House, Cracker Barrel, Panera Bread.
FOOD
There's usually a pretty wide range of food available. It's mostly all potluck though water and some light eats/snacks are provided. This year we're going to have a stone soup and we say "come one, come all" to vegetables. If you have specific dietary needs you should plan to address those on your own. There is a grill for meat and fish eaters to use. BYOB.
CLOTHES
Sometimes we luck out but it is usually pretty muggy this time of year. If you plan on being out there for a while bringing a change of clothes is a good call. Definitely bring a pair of old shoes if you'd like to explore the grounds. If you're out in the field a lot, pull up your socks just in case of a tick.
DONATIONS
We incur about a $700-800 overhead every year. We typically have to go out-of-pocket to cover costs anyway. If you have a good time and you appreciate what we're trying to do with this, please donate what you can. We suggest a $10-20 donation. This is really small potatoes compared to what many festivals and concerts cost and we have no corporate sponsors, plus the experience is far more intimate!
PESTS
Depending on how humid it is, the mosquitoes can be an issue. We recommend bringing some kind of repellant spray. Target sells a Deet-free spray. There can be ticks out in the field; be a friend and check each other if you've been out in the field for a while.
PARTICIPATION
Whatyouwill is wholly concerned with the practice of and spirit of improvisation. However, please respect common stage etiquette. If you would like to sit in/guest with someone you need to first ask that artist/group before they play. Also, please be mindful during open sessions of not overstaying your welcome. "TAG TEAM" is the mindset; give a good flavor of what you do and then make way for someone else to share what they do.
WEATHER-RELATED CANCELLATION/POSTPONEMENT
Whatyouwill is generally rain-or-shine but in the case of persistent severe weather we will make updates via Facebook and text giving the current status of the programming.
